Community Block Grant Funding Plan Presentations

The Asheville Regional Housing Consortium and the City of Asheville will hold two public hearings to present the first Draft of the 2015-2020 Consolidated Plan Priorities. 

The hearings will be held at the following times and places:

  • Monday, March 9, 2015 from 6 - 7:30 PM at the Woodfin Community Center 11 Community St., Woodfin, NC 28804
  • Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 6 - 7:30 PM in the Council Chambers at the new Fletcher Town Hall, 300 Old Cane Creek Rd., Fletcher.

The public is invited to hear an overview of the draft of the needs and priorities and to offer comments.  All community members concerned with affordable housing and related social service and community development issues are invited to attend. 

The City of Asheville submits the Consolidated Plan to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development every five years to guide the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Partnership Act (HOME) funds the City receives for affordable housing and related community development projects in Asheville and for affordable housing in Buncombe, Madison, Hendersonville, and Transylvania Counties.

This year, the City will receive $914,499 of federal HOME funds for the Asheville Regional Housing Consortium, to be allocated for projects such as new affordable rental housing development, housing rehabilitation and assistance for low-income homebuyers.  Within the City of Asheville, $956,356 in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) monies will be available for affordable housing, economic development, public facilities and public services projects.
