Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)
The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) provides for a one-time cash payment to help eligible low income families pay their heating bills. This payment is usually received in February of each year.
Applications for LIEAP must be placed in November of each year. Contact the Social Work Services for the application dates and for additional information on LIEAP.
Eligibility Requirements:
A household that applies must:
- Have reserves at or below $2,200
- Be responsible for its heating bills in the month of October
- Have at least one U.S. citizen or noncitizen who meets the eligibility criteria. Income limits vary by household size. See the NC Division of Social Work Services income guidelines for details.
Appointment Procedure
