Youth Programs

Check it out! JobLink has some great services and programs for teenagers and young adults aged 16-21. We have a Youth Counselor who can talk with you about finding a job and getting additional training.

If you are in school and beginning to think about your future career, or are actually looking for a part-time or summer job, JobLink has workshops that can help you.  If you're good on the computer, there is a computer lab you can use for Internet job searches, writing resumes, and career exploration (learn about various jobs you might be interested in when you graduate from high school).  By all means, STAY IN SCHOOL and get your high school diploma. It will really help you in being hired for a good job with a good salary.

The more education you have, the more money you make. Here's the average yearly pay based on the education you have:

Less than 9th Grade $11,324
9th - 12th Grade (no diploma) $14,584
High School Graduate $22,387
Associates (2 year) Degree $30,643
Bachelors Degree $38,701
Masters Degree $46,635
Doctorate Degree $57,478

If you have DROPPED OUT OF SCHOOL, we can help you get your GED and a part time job while you're working on your GED.

If you have COMPLETED YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED, we can help with the cost of tuition and books for a 1 year diploma or 2 year Associate degree. There are some income guidelines for this program.

If this sounds like something that would work for you, contact the JobLink Career Center Youth Counselor at (828) 255-2504, or stop by our offices in the Maple cuilding on the campus of A-B Tech Community College.
