Friends of the Library

The Friends of Buncombe County Libraries, Inc. assist the public libraries in making the community aware of its services and its needs. Furthermore, they supplement the majority of funding for adult’s and children’s programming. They also purchase furniture and equipment that is not available through county funds.

The Friends are a source of volunteers and are visible supporters of the library's mission.

The major Friends fundraisers are used book sales at every branch library. In addition, the Friends have a used book store called “Bookends” at Pack Memorial Library in downtown Asheville. Bookends is open during library hours and has previously enjoyed books, movies and music for all ages.

To receive information about the dates and times of other book sales, please sign up for our free Library eNewsletter.

With your Friends membership you will get a subscription to the library newsletter and early admission to most library book sales. The Friends of Buncombe County Libraries, Inc. is a registered 501(c)3 organization and all donations are tax-deductible.
