Behold the kite: for thousands of years kites have been used to enjoy and delight its flyers and onlookers. The art of kite making has ranged from simple to the most intricate and dramatic designs.
Kites have also had very practical uses that provide scientific information, light and satellite beacons, military applications and human flight.
Come to the Buncombe County Sports Park on October 13 to celebrate World Kite Day by flying a kite. The event is 1 - 4 p.m. Bring your favorite kite or come to watch.
