Vital Records 

This office issues Buncombe County's most vital records:

Please include a copy of your valid photo ID when sending in your request for a certified copy, or if you will be picking up the requested information in the office, you must present your valid photo ID.

Once completed, you can either bring the form in to the office at 35 Woodfin St, mail it in to 35 Woodfin St, email it to register@buncombecounty.org, or fax it to 828-250-4333.

Certified copy of birth, death, or marriage certificate

  • $10.00/certificate
  • To obtain a certified copy, you must be related to the person whose document you are requesting, unless you are an Authorized Agent, or an Attorney. This includes spouse, sibling, child, parent, grandparent, or grandchild, also included are step relationships.

Uncertified copy of birth, death, or marriage certificate

  • $0.25/certificate
