Buncombe Wins Top National Awards

Savvey Award

Competing with public relations firms and the communication departments of the largest cities and counties across the Country, Buncombe County was awarded a Saavy, the highest award in two categories, a Silver Circle and the Award of Excellence by the City/County Communication and Marketing Association.    Out of more than 700entries in this competition, Buncombe won 4 awards overall.

Awarded top honors for outstanding graphic design and electronic media were the Popular Annual Financial Report and for the County Center newsletter,  The judges (communication professionals from across the country) praised the beauty and simplicity of both entries.  Their ease of use and increase in communication attention won top honors.  The County's news hub also won for innovative design.

Judges from across the country reviewed more than 700 entries in 36 categories this year. The Savvies Award salutes skilled and effective city, county, agency or district professionals who have creatively planned and carried out successful innovations in communications and marketing.  The Savvies recognize the absolute best in the art of communications and marketing. The awards showcase outstanding local government achievements in communications, public-sector marketing and citizen-government relationships. The winning entries have created best practices in our field and have served as the benchmark for all local government communication efforts.
