Family Friendly Bike Ride - June 15

Join us a family friendly ride! Each ride will be in a different location and have a special theme. They begin with a brief training session for parents to give a series of tips to ride with their children safely in traffic. The children will have a short bike safety lesson and an activity to do while the parents are training.

The rides are designed to be relatively easy and short for youngsters to enjoy. Each ride has a destination as the midway point for rest, hydration and snacks. The rides take place on Sundays from 1:45 - 3:30 p.m.

This program has been made possible with funding from the Blue Ridge Bike Club and Friends of Connect Buncombe.

The following is the schedule for the rides:

Date Day Time Town Ride Route Details
June 15 Sunday 1:45-3:30 W Asheville Along French Broad greenway from French Broad Park to Hominy Creek Park and back again Father's Day Ride Superhero theme
Fruit snack at midway

There is no age restriction for participants; however, the cyclists should be able to ride a couple of miles with competence. Babies riding proper seats of parents’ bikes and in trailers are permitted. All riders must provide their own functioning bicycles, closed toe shoes and helmets.

We recommend families register at our Everbrite Site so that the organizers will have enough volunteers for the number of riders.  Please call Lucy Crown at 713-8757 with questions or if you need more information.

Sponsored by Buncombe County Library, Recreation and Culture Department in partnership with Blue Ridge Bike Club, Asheville on Bikes, and Friends of Connect Buncombe.
