BC Sheriff's Office Detention Officers Win Jail Administrators' Association Awards

Two detention officers from the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office recently received awards at the North Carolina Jail Administrators’ Association 2014 Annual Training Conference and Banquet in Greensboro, NC. 

Sgt. Bert Alexander won the 2014 Innovations of the Year Award for his work and community efforts with the Sheriff’s Office Detention Prevention Program. The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual who has made significant contributions directly related to improving operations of the detention facility by being creative and using innovative thinking to accomplish improvements.

Sgt. Bryan Rowland won the 2014 Officer of the Year for his superior dedication during a critical life-saving incident involving an employee.  This award recognizes a detention officer who has made outstanding contributions to their Sheriff’s Office, or who has demonstrated superior courage and bravery in the performance of their assigned duties. The purpose of the award is to establish a prestigious award to recognize an individual who has made significant contributions directly related to the operations of the Detention Facility and the Sheriff’s Office. 

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate Sgt. Alexander and Sgt. Roland on receiving these awards, and thank them for their exemplary service.
