Preschool Outreach Volunteer Training at Pack Library

Do you love to read? Do you like children?  The Preschool Outreach Project (POP) is currently looking for volunteers!  POP is an outreach service of the library, a program designed to bring the joy and excitement of books to children in child care centers.

Training will be held on:

Monday, March 11 at 9 am
Pack Memorial Library
67 Haywood Street in downtown Asheville.

The children we serve are often unable to attend story time programs in their local library, and so we bring the very best the library has to offer straight to them.  Our volunteers offer stories, songs, puppets and smiles to our youngest book lovers- children ages 2-5.

No formal experience is needed, just a strong commitment to both children and reading.  Most volunteers spend approximately five hours per month on POP, reading twice a month at their assigned center.  We ask that volunteers commit to participate with our program for one full school year.  All story time materials are provided by the library.

All POP volunteers must participate in a one day training event before being assigned to a local center.  Our next training will occur on Monday, March 11 at the Pack Memorial Library.

Interested volunteers must contact the program coordinator and complete a volunteer application prior to training.  For more information, or to reserve a spot at training, please call 828-250-4729 or email pop@buncombecounty.org.
