POP Volunteer Training at Pack Library - April 15

Do you love to read? Do you like children? The Preschool Outreach Project (POP) is looking for volunteers. POP is an outreach service of Buncombe County Public Libraries, a program designed to bring the joy and excitement of books to children in child care centers.

The children we work with are often unable to attend storytime programs in their local libraries, so we bring the very best the library has to offer straight to them. Our volunteers offer stories, songs, puppets and smiles to our youngest book lovers, children ages 2-5.

No formal experience is needed, just a strong commitment to both children and reading. Most volunteers spend approximately five hours per month on POP. All storytime materials are provided by the library.

All POP volunteers must participate in a one day training event before being assigned to a local center. Our next training will occur on Monday, April 15 at 9 a.m. at Pack Memorial Library in downtown Asheville.

Interested volunteers must complete a volunteer application prior to training. For more information, contact Jesse Figuera at 250-4729 or email POP@buncombecounty.org.
