Adult Care Homes

The decision to seek a long-term care facility for a family member is never an easy one. Usually, the decision is made based on a decline in their physical or mental aculties or realization that proper care cannot be achieved at home. In reality, many adults are pleased with their new environment and find they have a more robust life through increased socialization and stimulating activities.

There are many kinds of residential facilities in our area to choose from and vary depending on their level of care. The NC Division of Facility Services licenses Adult Care Homes and their environments are strictly monitored through a number of policies and standards to ensure proper quality of life. Choosing a facility should involve thoughtful research to properly match the new environment with the adult's short and long term needs. The Department of Social Services can provide a list of facilities in our area and in some cases, provide a Placement worker when there is no one to assist with the actual placement process.
