Flu Clinics Coming to Your Community

Get your flu shot! It’s the time of year when what starts out to be a minor headache, cough, or sneeze, turns out to be something much more – the flu.  In addition to the physical discomfort that comes with the flu, there's the chance you'll have to miss work or school. You also run the risk of spreading the flu to family members and friends.  Why not protect yourself by getting a flu vaccine?

Buncombe County Department of Health is partnering with Maxim Health Care again this year to bring flu vaccines to your community.  Flu vaccine clinics will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. at the following locations:

October 1     Owen Middle School
October 2     AC Reynolds High School
October 3     TC Roberson High School
October 4     Asheville Middle School
October 8     North Windy Ridge
October 9     Enka Middle School
October 10   Erwin High School

Flu shots are available for anyone 6 months of age and older, and flu mist is available for most people between the ages of 2 and 49 years. The cost of a flu shot is $24, and flu mist is $29. Payment may be made by cash, check, debit or credit card.

We file with most insurance carriers; however, insurance cards must be presented before a flu shot is given. Children 6 months through 18 years of age who do not have insurance to cover a flu shot may receive a flu shot at no cost.

Public health officials recommend that everyone 6 months of age and above have a flu shot, unless there is a medical reason that they cannot. It is also important that parents, grandparents and other caregivers of infants less than 6 months get a flu shot.
