County to Cut Ribbon on Public Safety Training Center

Buncombe County Commissioners and Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College officials will cut the ribbon on the 40,000 square foot space at the Public Safety Training Facility on October 7 at 11 a.m.  

Construction on the new  $5.9 million training center began over a year ago immediately Public Safety Training Facilityafter the official opening of the Public Safety Training Campus. 

The two-story center will  accommodate academic programs for fire protection, criminal justice, emergency medical services and basic law enforcement programs, moving these programs from the AB-Tech Enka campus.  With 17 classrooms, EMS and Crime Scene Labs, a truck bay, armory and large assembly area, the Training Center will serve 565 curriculum students, 6,700 continuing education students, 245 adjunct instructors and 24 full-time or permanent part-time employees.
