Buncombe County Commissioners and Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College officials will cut the ribbon on the 40,000 square foot space at the Public Safety Training Facility on October 7 at 11 a.m.
Construction on the new $5.9 million training center began over a year ago immediately after the official opening of the Public Safety Training Campus.
The two-story center will accommodate academic programs for fire protection, criminal justice, emergency medical services and basic law enforcement programs, moving these programs from the AB-Tech Enka campus. With 17 classrooms, EMS and Crime Scene Labs, a truck bay, armory and large assembly area, the Training Center will serve 565 curriculum students, 6,700 continuing education students, 245 adjunct instructors and 24 full-time or permanent part-time employees.
