The Collector's Division is responsible for collecting all real and personnel taxes assessed in the county. These taxes include reas estate, vehicle, business personal property, and other personal property taxes such as mobile homes, untagged vehicles, and boats.
The total amount of tax the collection's division will collect from Buncombe County and the six other municipalities amount to more than $100 million each year. The collection division mails around 100,000 real estate tax notices each year and more than 20,000 vehicle tax notices each month.
