Buncombe County's website, launched new in May of this year, recently took top honors at the National Association of Government Webmasters conference. The site was found to be the best of the best when reviewed by a panel of judges and by peers in the field of web design.
The county's website won top honors in the High Population category, for organizations with a population over 150,000, competing against giants like the City of Boston and Boulder Colorado.
The award cited the website's "clutter-free design, and incorporation of translation services and mapping features. The Buncombe County team focused on citizen interactivity by providing online access to many traditional government services."
The County website was designed in-house by County staff with the directive to draw citizens to its convenience and ease of use.
