The emerald ash borer (EAB) is a metallic green beetle that bores into ash trees, ultimately killing them. This nonnative beetle, first found near Detroit in 2002, is now found in 22 states and has already killed tens of millions of ash trees.
To help prevent the spread of this destructive insect please:

Buy your wood from a local source. Don’t buy or move firewood from outside the state.

If someone comes to your door selling firewood, ask them to verify the source.

If camping out of state please do not bring firewood home with you.
