Facility Update: Timelapse Video Shows General Service Complex Construction Underway

About this timelapse: It was recorded Jan. 8-Feb. 21 taking 120 pictures per day from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. In total, the timelapse contains 3,960 pictures.

Dirt is being moved, infrastructure is getting installed, and Buncombe County is excited to see progress on our new General Services Complex. The nearly 25,000-square-foot complex is being built adjacent to the Public Safety Training Center in Woodfin and will have state-of-the-art performance efficiencies and is being built to LEED-equivalency standards. During the construction process, we will be sharing updates and timelapse videos so you can watch the progress.

Here's our first update (see above for the timelapse video) from General Services Project Manager Scott Metcalf: “As of Feb. 23, we have mobilized the various subcontractors onsite, excavated the building pad to subgrade, relocated the electrical service outside of the building footprint, installed a new fire line tap, installed a new domestic water line tap, installed curbing and storm drains, and started the sanitary sewer install. A temporary road has been created to maintain access to both the job site and the Buncombe County Firearms Training Center.”

Here's a list of the activity that’s occurred since the groundbreaking:

  • Mobilization
  • Site clearing
  • Erosion control measures
  • Building seat excavation
  • Utility relocation
  • Stormwater drainage install
  • Dumpster pad install
  • Partial curb install
  • Temporary road install
