General Statement of Duties
Perform specialized work in software application implementation, support, training and troubleshooting of primarily vendor software solutions that support critical business functions. May involve development and support of custom applications, interfaces, and database packages. 

Special Requirements
May require nights/weekend on call duties. 

Examples of Work
Examine and analyze business processes, in order to implement and administer efficient business systems developed by vendor providers. Identify business solutions by evaluating options, resolving issues, and serving as a liaison between the business and the vendor to improve productivity. Develop technical specifications that address business needs to be implemented by the vendor. Articulate user issues in coherent technical language that can be addressed by the vendor. The qualified candidate employs excellent problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills, along with patience, a positive, customer-friendly attitude and the ability to work in a team environment. In addition, the Business Systems Specialist has a strong technical understanding of the software being supported and functions as an administrator of the software. This position may train new users on use of the system or existing users on new functionality. Using system administration tools, this position may configure the system to meet business needs. This position is responsible for the administration of user access to the system which includes understanding the relationship of user roles and system rights and the importance of timely response to access requests. May perform some coding tasks in support of vendor or custom applications utilizing vendor defined programming or industry standard programming languages. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the software development life cycle, including the ability to document requirements in writing and communicate effectively with county staff and third party vendors. Knowledge of software development languages and tools such as C#.NET, Visual Studio 2012 or later, T-SQL 2012 or later, Windows Batch Scripting, HTML5, Crystal Reports, and Microsoft Report Builder.  

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree with course work in computer science, information systems or a related field; supplemented by one years’ previous experience and/or training. Prefer knowledge of SQL Server 2012 or later with experience in creating queries and SSIS packages in order to analyze and to modify data.
