Job Details

General Statement of Duties
Performs a variety of specialized clerical and technical tasks in support of operations at Buncombe County libraries. Work involves assisting patrons at the circulation desk using the Evergreen circulation system, assisting with questions and/or problems regarding books and resources, and maintaining library materials and records. Also includes searching specialized bibliographic databases, copy cataloging of library materials including books, av materials and electronic resources, and processing library materials. 

Special Requirements
Must be 16 years old or older. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Comfortable with many forms of computer technology, broad knowledge of popular reading. Experience searching library databases and familiarity with MARC format is preferred. Requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. 

Minimum Education and Experience
Graduation from high school. Some experience in library work, including processing of materials, would be helpful. 

Additional Information
A successful candidate for this position should be available to work at all Buncombe County library locations during normal hours of operation. A list of libraries and hours is available at www.buncombecounty.org.
