Lake Julian Park Trail Ribbon Cutting

Come see the new Lake Julian Park Trail and join County officials and community partners as they cut the ribbon on this new trail extension on Saturday, August 29 at 11 a.m.

Buncombe County, in a partnership with Wild Wings Café and Duke Energy have enhanced the County Trail system in the Lake Julian Park area. The Lake Julian Park extension trail is approximately ¼ mile of paved walkway that easily winds beside beautiful Lake Julian.  The creation of this new trail extension began in 2013 when the old Boat House Restaurant on Long Shoals Road in Arden was transformed into what is now Wild Wings Café South.

During the process of renovations, and after several conversations, the partners agreed on a shared parking area that could be used by the restaurant and Buncombe County citizens as an access point to Lake Julian amenities.  This agreement enabled the expansion of the Lake Julian Park and created the trail and access point for the future development of the Bent Creek-Lake Julian Greenway.

Parking for the ceremony will be in the Lake Julian Park Extension lot adjacent to Wild Wing Cafe at 65 Long Shoals Road.
