Buncombe County Soil and Water Conservation District’s Annual Poster and Essay Contest is now open. This year’s theme is “Water… the Cycle of Life.”

4th & 5th grade students can create posters related to the Water Cycle. The Water Cycle is 5th grade Essential Standard 5.P.2.1. Explain how the sun’s energy impacts the processes of the water cycle (including evaporation, transpiration, condensation, precipitation and runoff).

6th grade students can write an essay or enter the computer designed slide show (Technology teachers are welcome to make this a project)
Cash awards are offered for the top 3 students and the teacher of the winning students.

Renee Ray, Education Coordinator for Buncombe Soil and Water Conservation District can come to your classroom and make a brief presentation about the topic and the contest.
Presentations from Renee can be scheduled for November and December. Contest entries must be submitted no later than January 11.
