Quality Indicators For Parents As They Search For High Quality Child Care

• Ask: What early childhood education qualifications the director & staff have.
• Ask: What is the program's Star rating?
• Look: Does the program look safe for your child?
• Look: Do the caregivers appear to enjoy talking and playing with children?
• Listen: What does the child care setting sound like?
• Listen: Do the children seem happy and engaged?

Our parent counselors can assist you in locating care for your child. They can also answer questions and concerns you may have about child care in general, and what to look for in choosing a quality program. You may contact a parent counselor by calling (828) 250-6700. Our phone line is open Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. If you would like to request further information about locating or choosing quality child care, please complete the "Request for Quality Child Care Information" form, and a parent counselor will contact you the next business day.
