The Mission of the Buncombe County Department of Social Services is to provide Buncombe citizens resources and services to maximize their well-being and self-determination.

We aim to prevent abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable citizens, as well as, promote self-reliance and self-sufficiency for individuals and families. Our staff is committed to providing Buncombe's diverse population with effective services in a timely and respectful manner.

Help brighten the Holiday Season for a senior or disabled adult.

County Employees Help Manna Food Bank

In response to the growing needs of individuals and families in our community, the local chapter of The North Carolina Social Services Association (NCSSA) partnered with MANNA Food Bank to help those in need.

Input on Improving the Quality of Life for Older Adults

The Department of Social Services needs community input so funds given by the Division of Aging can be best allocated to meet the needs of the community.

Aging Services

Buncombe County Human Services is responsible for planning and coordination of the county funding plan for aging services.
