"A Very Long Engagement" will be screened at the Weaverville Library on Tuesday, July 9 at 7 p.m. This French film from 2004 follows five desperate French soldiers during WWI who shoot themselves, either by accident or on purpose, in order to be sent back home. In the process of telling this tale each man's life is briefly explored, and one fiancée tries to determine the circumstances of her lover's death.
A short discussion will follow with local film aficionado Roy Turnbaugh. This free event is sponsored by the Weaverville Library Friends. For more information, call the Library at 250-6482 or email weaverville.library@buncombecounty.org.
