Check out these great spots to see beautiful holiday light displays in the Asheville area this season:

 

1) Lake Julian Light Show

  • Where: Lake Julian Park - 406 Overlook Road Ext., Arden
  • When: December 4 - 22 from 6pm - 9pm
  • Cost: $5/Car, $10/Van, and $25/Motor Coach

Sponsored by Buncombe County Recreation Services, this great holiday light show features thousands of lights and fifty animated stationary light displays. You can drive through the circle of Lake Julian Park, transformed into a winter wonderland, with 20% of the proceeds benefiting the Special Olympics of Buncombe County. 2) Shadrack's Christmas Wonderland

  • Where: WNC Ag Center - 1301 Fanning Bridge Rd., Fletcher (just past the Airport
  • When: Now - December 30th from Dusk till 10pm* (*Later on weekends)
  • Cost: $20/Car or Family Van, $40/Activity Bus or Limo, $80/Tour or School Bus

Drive through this fantastic light show that mixes the love of music with Christmas. The lights are programmed to dance to some of your favorite holiday tunes. 3) Winter Light Show at the Arboretum

  • Where: NC Arboretum - 100 Frederick Law Olmstead Way, Asheville
  • When: Now through January 2nd
  • Cost: $18/Adults, $16/Child, Free for Children Under 4, NC Arboretum Society Members get a $2 Discount

The NC Arboretum collaborated with Jerry Striplilng, former designer and manager of holiday decorations for Walt Disney World, to create a magical experience for visitors. Guided by 200,000+ energy-efficient LED lights, this great display enhances the natural beauty of the gardens. Several additional displays were added this year that give a synchronized musical light show every 30 minutes. You can also make yourself a treat at the outdoor s'more station! 4) Christmas at the Biltmore Estate

  • Where: Biltmore Estate - 1 Lodge Street, Asheville
  • When: Now through January 10th
  • Cost through December 18th with 7+ Days Advanced Ticket Purchase: $50/Adult, $25/Child (Age 10-16), Saturdays $65/Adult, $32.50/Child
  • Cost through December 18th for Regular Admission: $60/Adult, $30/Child
  • Cost from December 19th through January 2nd with 7+ Days Advance Ticket Purchase: $65/Adult, $32.50/Child
  • Cost from December 19th through January 2nd for Regular Admission: $75/Adult, $37.50/Child

George Vanderbilt introduced his new home to family and friends on Christmas Eve in 1895 with a celebration that the Estate continues to this day. Enjoy the spectacle of America's largest home decorated with dozens of trees, thousands of ornaments, and miles of brightly lit evergreen garland. Carolers will be throughout the halls during the entire celebration, and through December 20th children will also be able to visit Santa Claus.
