Homeowner Grant Program

Buncombe County Commissioners recently approved a new initiative aimed at helping qualified homeowners. You may qualify for up to $300 from the Homeowner Grant Program. Residents in the City of Asheville may also qualify for up to $200 additional dollars through this program. If eligible, grantees may, at their option, choose to have grant funds applied to their property tax bill, any city municipality taxes, and/or applied to other housing related obligations such as housing costs, mortgage, or insurance. Payments are made directly to the source of the approved bill. Payments will not be made directly to individuals. Note: Residents in the City of Asheville do not need to file any additional inquiries or applications - all funds will be administered through Buncombe County.

Please note: applicants who received grants last year will need to re-apply.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • The property is located in Buncombe County.
  • The property is your primary and only residence.
  • You have owned the property for at least 5 years.

  • You must not have more than $60,000 in reserve. This includes cash and all checking & savings accounts that can be available within 7 days.
