Buncombe County invites you to participate in your local government by volunteering for service on a Board, Commission, or Committee! Join the team of more than 2,000 County employees, elected officials, boards and commission members and other volunteers that work to improve our Community.
Boards, committees, and commission members aid the governing process by keeping Buncombe County in touch with the ideas and attitudes of its citizens. They help provide direction for the allocation of funds, the provision of human services, protection of citizens, property and our natural resources. The input of the citizens is vitally important to the success of our County.
Some of these advisory bodies have been established by State law and their authority is defined in the North Carolina General Statutes. The Board of County Commissioners has created additional boards for specific areas of service. You are invited to apply.
Application forms are available from the Office of the Clerk to the Board, 200 College Street, Suite 300 in Asheville, N.C. or by calling (828) 250-4105. You may also e-mail kathy.hughes@buncombecounty.org or download an application.
