Justice United in Support of Treatment (JUST)
The JUST Program, a partnership with Buncombe County Detention Facility (BCDF) and Buncombe County Pretrial Services is a post-booking jail diversion program that serves individuals with serious and persistent mental health disorders (SPMI) whose untreated or under-treated mental health has led to involvement with the criminal justice system.
The purpose of jail diversion services are:
- To prevent unnecessary incarceration of individuals with mental health disorders and co-occurring disorders,
- To reduce jail time (length of stay) for people with mental illness who may be better served in the community with therapeutic supports,
- To link individuals to appropriate mental health and community based services upon release from jail.
Familiar Faces / FUSE (Frequent User of Services Engagement)
The Familiar Faces team supports the needs of some of our community’s most vulnerable members. The team consists of representatives from community agencies, housing supports, health services, and criminal justice partners. There is a formal monthly meeting coordinated by RHA Health Services, to discuss the needs of individuals with multiple bookings into the Detention Facility and to facilitate planning and communication among community partners who support these individuals.
The Familiar Faces team strives to increase access and linkage to services, support community integration and stabilization, and reduce interactions with law enforcement.
