Preschool Outreach Program

The Preschool Outreach Program (POP) provides library services to children from birth until kindergarten and educators in early childhood education centers.  POP offers a monthly book and story bag delivery program as well as story time visits with a librarian.

  • With the monthly delivery program, your center can receive one or more boxes of 30 high-quality pictures books to use in the classroom each month.  Every month we will pick up your old books and deliver new books.
  • POP also lends out story bags to early childhood educators on request.  These story bags are kits that contain 10-20 books related to a theme as well as puppets, felt stories, and other early literacy materials.
  • Our outreach librarians provide story time visits for children in childcare from birth-pre-K.

The Preschool Outreach Program supports Buncombe County Government’s Educated & Capable Community focus area. In 2020, the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners declared racism a public health crisis.  In support of Buncombe County Government’s commitment to dismantling systemic racism, the Preschool Outreach Program and its collection support anti-bias education.
