Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP)

BCCCP offers free:

  • Chest & Cervical Exams
  • Pap Smears & HPV Testing
  • Mammograms

We make it easy for patients to get the quality care they need at no cost. BCCCP will provide referrals and follow-up appointments with qualified professionals if needed.

BCCCP Serves Women and Transgender People:

  • between the ages of 40-64,
  • who have no insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare part B
  • below 250% of the federal poverty level, see income chart below for detailed info
  • a Buncombe County resident. (Local NC BCCCP contact information can be found on https://bcccp.ncdhhs.gov/Eligibility.asp)
  • Other women and transgender people ages 21 to 39 may be eligible.
North Carolina Breast & Cervical Cancer Control Program

Patients diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer in BCCCP may be eligible to apply for Breast and Cervical Cancer Medicaid. (BCCM) Patients diagnosed elsewhere who are currently in breast or cervical cancer treatment and do have health insurance or have lost coverage may also be eligible to apply. Contact BCCCP for more information and how to apply.

Those who qualify for BCCCP and are between the ages of 35 to 64 will also qualify for the WISEWOMAN program.

WISEWOMAN is a program aimed at controlling or eliminating cardiovascular and other chronic diseases by offering free blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol screenings as well as health counseling and education.

WISEWOMAN Program

The goal of WISEWOMAN is to help women improve their health and reduce their chances of heart disease for a long, active life. 

WISEWOMAN

WISEWOMAN provides

  • Testing for cholesterol level, blood pressure and fasting blood sugar levels,
  • Counseling, education and skills to improve cardiovascular health, and
  • Opportunities to improve diet, physical activity and other life habits.

Participating in this program and making lifestyle changes can help women prevent, delay or control cardiovascular and other chronic diseases.
