When most of us sit down to eat, the last thing we want to think about is portion control. But for anyone on a diet or just looking to maintain Portion Controltheir current figure, that’s exactly what they should be doing. Here are some tips to help you out:

  • Use smaller plates and bowls. This tricks your brain into thinking you have more food.
  • Eat five or six small meals throughout the day to prevent overeating.
  • Use smaller eating utensils. You get more bites and eat more slowly, which can help signal the brain that you are full.
  • Make a salad or vegetables the main part of the meal and treat meat as a side dish.
  • Eat slowly and eliminate distractions. Turn off the TV and put your fork down between bites.
  • Make a habit of reading food labels to get familiar with serving sizes for particular foods.
  • When eating out, visualize what one serving of each food looks like before digging into your meal.
