Veterans Services and Vital Records Relocating

Buncombe County Veterans Assistance and Vital Records Offices are relocating to 199 College Street.  The new location is between the Buncombe County Courthouse Annex and 205 College Street, near the College Street traffic circle. Parking for the Veterans Assistance Office and the Vital Records Office will be in the County Parking Garage located at 164 College Street in Downtown Asheville.

On October 12,  the County Veterans Assistance Offices will move to 199 College Street and on October 26 the County Vital Records Office will move to 199 College Street.

The Veterans Assistance Office offers assistance in a wide range of services to our nation's veterans, service members and their families. Veterans Assistance Office can help Veterans apply for services, provide connection to jobs and training, home loans, disability benefits, and access to health care. We encourage those that may be eligible for veteran’s benefits to stop by and meet our helpful County Veterans Service Officers during regular business hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday. More information about the Veterans Assistance Office can be found online at www.buncombecounty.org/veterans. Our officers can be reached by phone at (828) 250-5726. Interpreter services are available and free of charge.

Moving Vital Records will situate the office next to the new Register of Deed's new location (at 205 College). The Vital Records Deputy Registrar certifies births and deaths that occur in Buncombe County and also registers home births that occur in our county. Some services require an appointment. You can call (828)250-5214 or email Vital Records at Terri.rogers@buncombecounty.org. Business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.
