ASHEVILLE CITY PRIMARY
Election Day voting will take place in the city of Asheville precincts beginning at 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Notice is hereby given that the date for the Primary Election for the City of Asheville (Office of Mayor and Wisler, Bothwell and Smith seats) will be Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Please note these Election Day Voting Location Changes.
Registration closed for this election on September 15, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. All residents of the City of Asheville who are registered to vote may vote in this election. Persons wishing to register and vote after the registration deadline may do so by appearing at the one-stop voting site during the one-stop voting period, completing a registration form, providing proof of residence by presenting valid documents showing current name and address, and if eligible, cast a vote.
One stop voting begins at the Board of Elections Office at 77 McDowell Street on September 21, 2017. Voting will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, October 7, voting will take place from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
ABSENTEE VOTING
The absentee by mail period began on September 10, 2017. Applications may be obtained by requesting a form from:

Forms may also be found on the Election Services website. All absentee ballots, (excluding UOCAVA) must be received in the elections office by October 10 at 5:00 p.m. or can be accepted until Friday, October 13 if postmarked no later than October 10, 2017.
Voters or their near relatives may deliver the ballot to the Board of Elections office. Military and overseas citizens have until 7:30 p.m. on Election Day to return their voted ballots. Additional time is granted for military and overseas citizens absentee ballots to be received, as long as the ballot is received by Election Day or started the electronic ballot transmission by 12:01 a.m. on Election Day and the county board receives the ballot by the last business day before the county canvass.
