There are two great events happening in town for International Overdose Awareness Day (August 31) - the first is Wednesday, August 30. Buncombe County HHS and The Steady Collective will be at the Haywood Street Congregation from 11am-1pm during the weekly Downtown Welcome Table free lunch for overdose awareness and prevention education, as well as remembrance art.
Stop by either event to make a remembrance stone to carry in your pocket or contribute to the overdose prayer flag, which will eventually become a giant piece of mobile remembrance art that is both memorial and advocacy. Stop by to learn more, connect to help or to share your story.
