Buncombe County HHS wants to remind citizens of the importance of getting screened for breast cancer. Please, put your health first by getting a mammogram and following a healthy diet so that you can continue to do the things that you love and be around the people that you cherish. Considering taking some time to take care of yourself!
Buncombe County Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) helps save the lives of women in Buncombe County through early detection of Breast and Cervical Cancers. Between 2012 and 2017, BCCCP screened 8,062 women and diagnosed 72 cases of Breast Cancer and 122 cases of Cervical Cancer.
BCCCP serves uninsured and underinsured women between the ages of 40 and 64. Younger women may be eligible as well if they meet certain criteria. BCCCP services include free mammograms, pap smears, breast and cervical exams, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings, and regular health counseling sessions.
