Buncombe County Soil & Water presents Camp WILD, a 5-day summer day camp focusing on having fun while learning in the WILD outdoors!
We explore some of the local sights and attractions of WNC while learning about how to conserve, protect, respect, and enjoy the wilderness. Some of this year's events include:
- Lake Logan paddle boarding & kayaking
- Hiking at Pink Beds
- Montreat College Ropes Course
- Natural Tunnel Tour & Camping
- Bays Mountain Planetarium
The camp includes four day-long sessions (8 a.m.-5 p.m.) and one overnight camping trip.
Camp Wild is open to current Envirothon students, and remaining slots will be determined on an application process of current 6-12 grade students. Middle School Week is July 22-26 and is open to current 6-8 graders. High School Week is Aug. 5-9 and is open to current 9-12 graders.
The cost for the Camp will be $30 per student thanks to a generous grant from the Pigeon River Fund. Areas of study include soil science; forestry; environmental issues; solid waste; recycling; aquatics; wildlife; and water quality. Please fill out application if interested and email to taira.lance@buncombecounty.org.
Below, you can find applications and schedules for both the high school and middle school sessions.
