Buncombe County is seeking a community member to join the Land of Sky Regional Council of Governments Board of Delegates as Buncombe County’s Economic Development representative. Please see the posting below for additional details about the fund and the role.
What is the Land of Sky Regional Council of Governments (LOSRC)?
Land of Sky Regional Council is a multi-county, local government, planning and development organization. We reach across county and municipal borders providing technical assistance to local governments and administer projects and programs which benefit our region’s citizens.

What will I do as a member of the LOSRC?
Applicants will serve on the Board of Delegates to ensure representation of local and regional economic development interests.
The purpose and objectives of the Board of Delegates are:
- To provide a forum for local leaders to collaborate on issues of regional importance.
- To foster desirable social, cultural, ecological, and economic conditions within the region.
- To provide technical support and consultation in the development of regional plans, comment and coordination concerning applications for state and federal aid for many types of projects and programs having an impact upon the region.
- To promote joint federal, state, and local efforts to provide for the orderly long-term development of the region.
The Board of Delegates meets on the fourth Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Land of Sky Regional Council. All meetings are open to the public.
Term: Members shall serve one (2) year term. Members may be replaced at any time at the sole discretion of the respective institution or organization. Time commitment is an estimated 2-3 hours each month.
Qualifications: Applicants must be Buncombe County residents. Ideal candidates have an understanding of regional economic development, including small business development, industry recruitment, and workforce development.
