Scam Alert: Bogus Website is Spoofing a Buncombe Payment Portal, Please Verify Authenticity Before Paying County Bills

Our cybersecurity team has discovered that scammers have created fake websites resembling our Buncombe County Development, Permits, and Licensing portal. At this time, it seems to be isolated to our Permits & Inspections portal page. But out of caution, we are asking everyone who is making any sort of payment to Buncombe County to go BuncombeCounty.org and navigate to the appropriate payment portal from there instead of clicking on a link from an email or manually typing a web address.

You can also go to BuncombeCounty.org to find contact information for the department associated with your bill to call or email the authenticity of the bill. You can directly contact our Permits office at (828) 250-5360 and find the official website here.

We also want to assure the public that no information has been stolen and there has been no data breach. Again, please verify any email (and don’t click on links) claiming to be from Buncombe County. And if you are using a third-party payment portal for a County bill, navigate to it from our website. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to get the fake websites taken down.
