Big Ivy Community Center (BICC) is a beloved hub for community gatherings and activities. While the property belongs to Buncombe County, Big Ivy Development Club, a non-profit organization, operates the community center and its offerings.
Buncombe County’s General Services department recently restored the BICC pool, sand volleyball area, and the roofs of various structures around the pool, resulting in a $200,000 investment. The pool’s interior surface was fully replastered and retiled, now offering exciting summer days of splashes and laughter.
“I have lived in Barnardsville all of my life, and have spent many hours at the community center, but nothing beats the time I get to now spend with my granddaughter there,” said Patricia Evans, a local community member. The BICC celebrated the renovations with a pool party on June 29.
“The people of Big Ivy appreciate Buncombe County’s partnership in Big Ivy Community Center’s mission to enhance the quality of life for all ages through education, recreation, celebration, and community services,” said Gina Elrod, Big Ivy Community Center Healthy Opportunities Manager. Buncombe County continues to enhance its recreational opportunities as the community grows.
