Film Screening Inspires Support for Foster Youth: Next Foster Parent Class on Sept. 12

Thank you, to those who came out to the film viewing of “The Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot.” This film screening invited community members to participate in watching and discussing the trauma that many of our youth in foster care face today.

Inspired by the powerful true story, “The Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot,” follows Donna and Reverend Martin as they ignite a fire in the hearts of their rural church to embrace kids in the foster system that nobody else would take.

By doing the impossible–adopting 77 children–this East Texas community proved that, with real, determined love, the battle for America’s most vulnerable can be won.

Possum Trot continues to play locally and nationally in theatres. Click here to view the movie trailer.

We hope this film can inspire you to join our fight by becoming a foster parent.

If you are interested in learning more about what becoming a foster parent looks like, join us at our next foster parent class on Thursday, September 12. The class provides training to prepare participants for the challenges and joys of being a foster parent. Click here to learn more about the class.

In general, foster families provide a safe, temporary placement for children from birth to age 18. Buncombe County is specifically seeking foster parents to provide homes for siblings and children 12 and older. These vulnerable youth want to stay with their school and friends in their home communities. Licensed foster families can make this happen!
