New Residential Garbage and Recycling Hauler Coming Online Later This Year

Buncombe County's Solid Waste Department is preparing for changes that will better serve the community. Starting January 1, 2025, FCC Environmental Services will become the new franchise hauler for residential garbage and recycling collection in unicorporated areas of Buncombe County, replacing Waste Pro as the solid waste collection company.

To ensure a smooth transition and avoid service disruption, customers are required to sign up with FCC Environmental before the end of October. Customers should not experience any disruption in services as long as they sign up before the end of October.

FCC Environmental Services was chosen as the top-ranked firm for this role, leading to the approval of a contract for residential solid waste collection, which includes household garbage, recycling, and yard waste services.

More information and a registration form can be found on the FCC website at: www.fccenvironmental.com/buncombe-county or by calling (828) 820-7022.
