Buncombe County put out the call for artists, and the community responded with an awesomely overwhelming response. We are beyond thrilled to have received 69 unique “I Voted” stickers submissions created by the children and teens of our community. Now it’s up to you to decide which one will be featured when the polls open for Early Voting later this year. “There was great participation this year and it’s really heartening to see so many beautiful and thoughtful entries. We are lucky to have such creative children,” remarks Election Services Director Corinne Duncan. The contest is in its second year, and Corinne says it’s been a great bridge for helping facilitate a sense of community and teaching children how they can participate in elections when they reach voting age. “It also gives parents a cheerful way to engage with their children and talk about voting before they visit the polls. Remember you can always take your kids with you to vote so they can observe you,” notes Corinne.

Please take a moment to view the final entries and cast a vote for your favorite. Voting is open now through Aug. 18 and we will announce a winner on Aug. 20. Starting with Early Voting on Oct. 17, the stickers will be available after you cast your ballot.
Our artists
After social media outreach, live events, and coordination with local camps, our 2024 'I Voted' Sticker Contest gathered 69 submissions. Our youngest artist is five and our oldest designer is 18 years old. The average age of our artists is 11.2. Most artists drew their designs by hand, but a few took on the challenge using design software. We had many siblings contribute designs, and one sticker was a collaboration between brother and sister.
Thank you to all the parents, kids, and teens for making this contest a great form of civic engagement, a chance to raise awareness about our upcoming election, and provide us with outstanding art from all corners of Buncombe County.
With so many entries, the County created a Sticker Contest Committee that pared down the entries to a final 10 designs. Now we need your help as we are asking the public to pick the final sticker design. The committee used the following criteria to pare down the final 10 entries:
- Can I see enthusiasm and encouragement for the democratic process in this sticker?
- What color choices, design choices, and craftsmanship elements really stand out?
- How will this sticker look when it’s sized down to 1.5 inches?
