Celebrate Local Agriculture with a Field Day on August 15

Are you interested in learning more about the people and research programs that have helped shape agriculture in western North Carolina? Come celebrate local agriculture at the 2024 Mountain Hort Field Day & 75th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday, August 15 from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. at 74 Research Drive in Mills River. Buncombe County Cooperative Extension will also be there.

The event is open to the public with lunch and ice cream served!

There will be displays to visit and tours (ride in comfort on tractor-pulled covered trams). Project leaders and graduate students will be in the fields to showcase their research projects. You'll see new varieties of plants, hear about pesticide management techniques, learn about diseases impacting the various industries and how research is combating the problems facing horticulture.

Schedule:
8:30 a.m. - Apple Field Tours
10:30 a.m. – Tomato & Vegetable Field Tours
1 p.m. - 75th Anniversary Celebration Lunch (open to all)
2 p.m. - Nursery Crops & Specialty Field Tours
