Starting on January 1, 2025, Buncombe County Health and Human Services will reinstate fees for services including vaccines, well permit fees, and more. On October 14, 2024, the County’s Health and Human Services Board waived certain fees for the Public Health division to assist individuals and businesses affected by Helene. This waiver was retroactively effective starting on September 27, 2024.
Buncombe County Public Health fees will be reinstated on January 1, 2025, for the following:
- Vaccinations for COVID
- Vaccinations for Influenza
- Vaccinations for Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis
- Vaccinations for Hepatitis A for adults
- Food Service Plan Review (existing greater than 500 sq. ft.)
- Food Service Plan Review Renovation/additions (less than 500 sq. ft.)
- All well permit fees
- All Water Sample – no site visit (Self-Collect) fees
- Well water sampling for pesticides, herbicides, petroleum, volatile organic compound (VOCs), chemical panel w/ Nitrate/Nitrites, Chemical Panel, Nitrate/Nitrites fees
In addition to insurance and self-pay, the state of North Carolina offers certain free vaccines to those who qualify year-round. The Vaccines For Children program also provides free vaccines for eligible children who meet certain criteria including being uninsured or enrolled in Medicaid.
