Crews Responding to Wildfire in Leicester

The Buncombe County Fire Marshal's Office, Buncombe County Emergency Management, N.C. Forest Service, and other agencies are working with the Leicester Fire Department on a wildfire in the Leicester Community on Peepeye Cove Road.

Two structures required protection; however, no additional structures are at risk at this time. The fire is currently at eight acres and is at approximately 20% containment. Firefighters are utilizing hand crews and heavy equipment to provide containment along with water drops from helicopters and air tankers. 

There are no evacuation orders or additional safety concerns for residents at this time. Please avoid the area to allow emergency crews to safely work.
