2025 Notices of Value on Their Way to Some Buncombe County Residents & Business Owners

photo of a home with checklist graphic

Some property owners in Buncombe County can expect to begin receiving their notice of value for tax year 2025 for business personal property, rental personal property, and for real property owners whose property has changed, that includes properties that have sustained structural damage from Tropical Storm Helene that has not yet been repaired. Buildings that remain damaged or destroyed as of Jan. 1, 2025, have been reappraised for 2025.

The Property Assessor is scheduled to begin mailing notices by March 10.

This new process supports our continued effort to better serve property and business owners by giving them advanced notice of their assessments before tax bills are mailed in August. This is a slightly different procedure than in previous years when the property tax bill would serve as the first notice of value. These notices of value are not bills. The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners will set the property tax rate for 2025 in June of this year.

Need to Appeal?

Business and property owners who disagree with their assessment should submit an appeal within thirty days of the notice date. Once the appeal period expires the value will become final. If you agree with the new value, you do not need to do anything.

For convenience a fillable appeal form for business owners is available online at buncombecounty.org/businesslisting, and may be submitted via email at businesslisting@buncombecounty.org or by mail to:
