Burn Ban Lifted, But Caution Still Advised

The local open burning ban will be allowed to expire at 9 a.m. this morning, March 7.

Although conditions have improved, moderate wind gusts are forecasted for this afternoon. Please follow these precautions and local regulations:

  • Keep debris and vegetation piles small and manageable. They should generally less than three feet in diameter.
  • If possible, burn before 3 p.m., when dryer winds and lower humidity are present.
  • Always have a means of extinguishment, like a fire extinguisher, a garden hose or water source, or shovel or rake for controlling the fire.
  • The only debris that is permissible to burn is natural vegetation that grows on your property.
  • Open burning is NOT permitted inside a municipality that offers brush, leaf, or yard waste disposal.

Any fire must be constantly attended. Notify 911 of any out of control fire.
