Immunizations

A Shield of Protection

What you do matters! Getting immunized throughout your lifetime protects you, the people you love and our community against harmful diseases.

Immunizations are a shield of protection for our entire community. They protect us against deadly diseases like Polio, Measles, Mumps, and Hepatitis. When more people in our communities get immunized, we have a strong shield of protection against vaccine preventable diseases. When people do not get immunized, cracks begin to form in our shield, putting infants, the elderly, and people with low immunity in danger of getting sick. Simply put- immunizations work, but it takes all of us to create a strong shield of protection in our community.

Talk to your doctor or call the Immunizations Clinic at 828-250-5096 with any questions you might have about immunizations or to find vaccination records.

Visit https://vaccinefinder.org to find vaccinations near you.

The Buncombe County Immunizations Clinic is located at 40 Coxe Avenue in downtown Asheville. We offer two options for getting your immunizations at our facility. First, you can call (828) 250-5096 and make an appointment that fits your schedule. We also offer a wide range of walk-in hours for your convenience. Walk-in hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 8-11:30 AM and on Tuesday and Thursday between 1-4:30 PM.

Important!

Bring copies of your/your child's immunization record, so staff will know which vaccines you/your child has had if they've never visited the Health Department.

You can find a copy of your vaccine records through the following:

  • Previous healthcare providers including physicians, pharmacies, and local health departments.
  • The North Carolina Immunization Registry database.
  • Your child’s school, family records such as baby books, school, and camp applications; and military records.

Records from other states and international records in other languages should be brought in.

If you are insured, please also bring your Insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and/or HMO card.
