How would you like to break up your tax bill into multiple payments instead of one lump sum? The Buncombe County Tax Department can get you ahead of the game by estimating your bill for the upcoming tax year. It’s a free and easy move that gives you manageable payments throughout the year and helps you avoid potential late fees.
Normally, tax bills are available in August and due on or before Jan. 5. However, County staff can work with anyone who would like to start making payments before their bill is available. We can also utilize monthly, automatic withdrawals from your bank account so you don’t even have to think about your tax bill. Prepayments can also be mailed or dropped off at our office.
And what if you overpay or underpay? Any overpayment will be refunded or put toward your next property tax bill. Any underpayment, or remaining amount due, will be reflected on your bill when annual bills are generated in August.
If you would like an account representative to work with you on an estimated tax bill and what monthly payments could look like call us at (828) 250-4910 or drop by the Tax Department at 94 Coxe Ave. in downtown Asheville.
